Where do you buy your flowers from?

Where I source my flowers from is really important to me, it’s taken a number of years and a lot of trial and error to get to where I am now, working with a fantastic group of suppliers who I trust and who provide me with great flowers to work with.

All year round I buy from a premium Dutch wholesaler, their flowers are imported from all over the world and sold through the Dutch flower markets. Imported flowers are reliable and fast, I can order the day before and they are delivered overnight from Holland. They are also consistent in their supply and variety which allows me to produce a quality product throughout the year.

Once we get into Spring, I’m spoilt for choice as the British flower season gets going. British flowers are a huge passion of mine for so many reasons. I’m lucky enough to have four really lovely local flower growers within just a few miles of my workshop, the Ladies who grow these flowers put their heart and soul into what they produce and I really enjoy the personal connection I have with them. We communicate throughout the year and we’ll be in touch with each other during the winter months so they can plan their sowing schedule around the weddings I have and what colours Brides have chosen. This is what’s really special about working with local growers - flowers are being grown with you and your wedding in mind.

And finally, I source my Roses from The Real Flower Company. There’s a big difference between a ‘Rose’ and a ‘Garden Rose’ you can buy Roses at Sainsbury’s but you certainly can’t buy Garden Roses from there. These Roses are beautiful, with their large frilly heads, lots of petals and scent! That classic English country garden scent of a freshly picked Rose is just heavenly. And finally, colour, they come in the most glorious colours from deep magenta pink right through to alabaster white.
